State #6

We made it to Iowa -- crossed the state line this morning. The rest of Minnesota was pleasant and only involved one detour up a HUGE hill (which led to amazing views of the Mississippi and surrounding cities and much cooler air up on the ridge) and one out of the way trip to a bike shop in La Crosse, Wisconsin. It has been storming off and on all day so we are taking refuge in a library in Harper's Ferry, Iowa. My brother, Stuart, has uploaded some of our pictures for us so check them out in the slide show (just click on it to see them larger). These are mostly from Montana and North Dakota, we'll fill the rest in at some point. Have a fabulous July 4th!! Love to everyone!

Hi guys. I have been following your journey right along, but have been remiss in leaving you a comment until now. First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement. How wonderful and exciting. Your trip sounds beautiful, tough, and full of adventure (exploding fuel bottles, friendly wallet delivering cops, lost bike shorts, etc.). I am in awe of you two and what must be your legs of steel. I wish you continued safe and magnificent travels. Love, Jessica

Hello Bikers,

We have moved up to our camp for the summer but are continuing to follow your easterly progress . We have DSL for the first time up here in Weld , so this seems like quite a luxury for us to stay connected.
Weld has received close to 10 inches of rain in the last month...the result being mushrooms and mosquitoes in epic proportions.

My brother and sister-in-law (aged 79) have purchased new bikes that are equipped with little motors that will assist them on the hills so abundant in this section of the state. The bikes are actually being delivered tomorrow. We are all eager to see them in action. We hear they sound like weed whackers when the motors are in use !! Perhaps when the two of you reach the ripe old age of 79 you'll resort to such measures.

Happy travels.
Fondly,
Ron and Pam Moore

Wow, wow, wow!
I hope you had a happy 4th of July in mid-America! As we near our Kezar vacation, I am wishing more and more that you two were going to be there. We will be thinking of you and will certainly miss your cooking skills (have you heard about the schedule/pairings for each meal??!!
Anyhoo, safe travels and much love,
Jess
